The ABB PP887S is a 15.4-inch rugged touch panel PC designed for operator interaction in industrial and marine environments. Its 1280 x 800 pixel display provides a practical workspace for viewing control screens, equipment information, and process interfaces. The 1000 cd/m² brightness and marine optimized dimming down to 0.5 cd/m² allow the display to be adjusted for different lighting conditions.

The panel PC uses an ARM9 processor running at 1 GHz with 2 GB of main memory. It includes one SD card slot for external storage media and a realtime clock. The resistive touch interface provides direct interaction with the displayed control application, making the unit suitable for operator panels where physical touch input is required.

The PP887S provides two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet connections through shielded 4-pin M12 interfaces and two USB 2.0 ports. Its serial communication options include RS 232, RS422, and RS485 through M12 connections. These interfaces allow the panel PC to connect with network equipment, serial devices, and other control equipment used in industrial installations.

The rugged enclosure is made with gray powder-coated aluminum and provides IP66 protection on both the front and rear. The unit supports an operating temperature of -30 °C to +70 °C, storage temperature of -40 °C to +80 °C, and relative operating humidity of 5 % – 95 % non-condensed. Its vibration and shock specification of 4 G / 40 G supports use in demanding installation environments.

The ABB PP887S also carries marine certifications including DNV, KR, GL, LR, ABS, and CCS, along with hazardous-area certifications including ATEX, IECEx, US/CAN hazardous location, and CCC. With panel mounting and VESA 100 x 100 support, the unit can be integrated into control panels and equipment installations where rugged operation, touchscreen control, and multiple communication interfaces are required.
