Beijer BoX2 extreme SC, i.MX6Quad Rugged IIoT gateway
The Beijer BoX2 extreme SC is a rugged IIoT gateway that combines industrial connectivity, edge computing, web-based HMI functions, and CODESYS control in one compact platform. It is designed to help connect industrial equipment with control systems, databases, cloud services, and other connected applications.
The gateway supports protocol conversion and cloud connectivity, allowing data to be exchanged between different industrial systems and higher-level services. Its HMI web server provides web-based access to HMI applications, while local data base storage keeps application information available locally. C# scripting and an alarm server provide additional functions for application development and system monitoring.
The BoX2 extreme SC uses an i.MX6Quad Quad ARM Cortex-A9 1.0GHz processor with 2 GB RAM and 2GB SSD(eMMC), 1.5GB free for application. CODESYS runtime version 3.5 supports EtherCAT, Modbus Ethernet, and Modbus RTU, while integrated CODESYS control allows the gateway to perform control tasks alongside its IIoT functions.
For connecting industrial equipment, the unit provides two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports using 4-pin M12 connections, two 8-pin M12 serial ports, SD and SDHC support, and two USB 2.0 ports. The serial interfaces support RS 232, RS422/485, and RS 485, giving the gateway options for connecting different types of industrial devices.
The rugged design supports DIN rail, mounting plate, or Vesa mount installation. It operates from 24VDC and is specified for -30°C to +70°C operation, 40g shock, 4g vibration, and 5%–95% non-condensed humidity. IP65 protection, UL Type 1, ATEX Zone 2/22, IECEx Zone 2/22, UL C1D2, and Marine certifications further support the specified industrial, hazardous-area, and marine installation requirements.
