When operators need to monitor and control machinery from a compact panel, the interface must provide clear information while fitting into a limited installation space. The Beijer X2 control 7 is a 7-inch HMI Panel PC designed to give operators a direct touchscreen interface for industrial control and automation systems. Its compact panel-mount design, industrial communication interfaces and programmable control capabilities make it suitable for machine and process control applications.

The HMI uses a 7" TFT-LCD display with 800x480 pixel resolution, LED backlight and 350 cd/m2 brightness. The resistive touchscreen provides a direct way for an operator to interact with the control interface, enter commands and view machine or process information. With support for 1 million finger touch operations, the touch interface is designed for repeated operator use in industrial environments.

Inside the panel, the X2 hardware platform uses an i.MX6DualLite Dual Cortex-A9 1.0GHz processor with 1 GB RAM and 2GB SSD (eMMC), with 1.5GB free for application. The CODESYS runtime version 3.5 adds programmable control functionality, while CODESYS EtherCAT, Modbus Ethernet, Modbus RTU and CANopen support allows the HMI to communicate with compatible automation equipment. This makes the panel useful when the operator interface also needs to participate in the control system.

The X2 control 7 provides multiple communication options for connecting industrial devices. It has two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports, serial communication through RS232, RS422/485 and RS485, and one CAN port operating at 0.5 MBit. The expansion interface, SD and SDHC support and USB 2.0 port provide additional options for system expansion and data handling. These interfaces allow the HMI to work as part of a wider machine or automation network rather than operating only as a standalone display.

The panel is designed for installations where space, durability and environmental protection are important. It can be installed using panel mount or VESA 75 x 75 mounting, while the powder-coated aluminum housing provides a compact industrial enclosure. The front sealing is IP65, NEMA 4X/12 and UL 50E Type 4X/12, with an operating temperature range of -10°C to +60°C. Its listed marine certifications, including KR, LR, ABS, BV, CCS, NK and DNV GL, also support applications where marine and offshore equipment requires a compact operator control interface.
