When a marine electronics system has multiple networked devices such as multifunction displays, navigation equipment, sensors, and other onboard systems, relying on limited network connections can make installation difficult. The Digital Yacht NS8 is designed to provide additional Gigabit Ethernet connections in a compact marine networking setup, while its dual redundant power design helps support continuous network operation.

The Digital Yacht NS8 is an 8-port network switch designed to connect multiple Ethernet-based marine devices on the same network. It provides eight RJ45 ports with 10/100/1000 Gigabit Base-T Ethernet, allowing compatible equipment to communicate through a centralized network connection.

Each port uses an RJ45 connection and supports Cat 5/6 network cabling. The Gigabit Ethernet capability provides higher network capacity for marine electronics that need to exchange navigation, monitoring, control, or other network data between connected devices.

The NS8 is designed with a dual redundancy power supply configuration and supports 12/24/48V DC power. This provides flexibility for different DC electrical systems while the redundant power supply design can help maintain network availability where dependable onboard connectivity is important.

For installation, the switch is designed for DIN rail mounting and follows the IEC/EN 60715 standard for 35 × 7.5 mm rails. A 100 mm DIN rail is included, providing a practical mounting option for organized installations where marine electronics and networking equipment need to be installed inside an equipment cabinet or control area.

Power and network link status indicators provide a quick visual check of the switch and its connections. Each Ethernet port also has yellow and green LEDs, making it easier to identify port activity and link status during installation and troubleshooting.

For optimum data transfer speed, a wired Ethernet connection still offers the fastest and most reliable network connection onboard a boat and for Streaming TV, VOIP, Security Cameras and other data intensive services we always recommend using a wired connection.

Our NS8 Network Switch provides a simple and rugged solution to increasing the number of wired Ethernet connections on the vessel. Designed to operate from DC supply, with dual redundancy power supply design, a DIN rail mount and eight RJ45 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, the NS8 allows you to reliably expand your boat’s Ethernet network.

Installation could not be easier, simply connect one of the NS8’s RJ45 sockets to a LAN socket on our 4GConnect or 4GXtream routers, using a normal network cable and wire the NS8 directly to the boat’s 12v, 24v or 48v DC supply. Our 4G router will continue to provide IP addresses to any device plugged in to the NS8 (via DHCP) and you can immediately see the status of all the Ethernet connections by the flashing Yellow and Green LEDs on each of the NS8’s ports.
