When a standard HMI has to operate in outdoor or mobile equipment, buyers often need more than a touchscreen. The display must remain readable in bright conditions, respond reliably with gloves, communicate with vehicle or machine controllers, and continue working through vibration, shock, and changing power conditions. The PowerView U120 combines a 12-inch industrial HMI display with an embedded computing platform running QNX® Realtime Operating System. Its Renesas R-Car M2 processor, 1GB RAM, and 16GB eMMC flash provide local resources for operating systems and applications, allowing the unit to serve as an operator interface rather than simply acting as a passive monitor. This makes it suitable for equipment where users need to view information, interact with controls, and access connected machine functions from one display.

The 1280 x 800 LVDS TFT LCD provides a bright 1000 cd/m2 display with an anti-glare surface, helping operators view information in demanding lighting conditions. The projected capacitive touch panel supports glove touch, which is useful where operators may need to interact with the HMI without removing protective gloves. The integrated graphics processor supports the display workload while the 12-inch screen provides enough working area for machine information, control pages, status indicators, and other application interfaces.

The PowerView U120 also provides extensive communication and machine-interface connectivity. Two CAN J1939 connections allow communication with compatible vehicle and equipment systems, while RS-485 and USB 2.0 provide additional interfaces. WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and Ethernet provide further connectivity options, while the digital, analog, and frequency inputs allow the HMI to receive information directly from connected equipment. Frequency and switched outputs can also be used for control and interface functions.

For systems requiring integrated audio and video functions, the U120 includes four analog NTSC/PAL video inputs along with radio and audio interfaces. The audio features include JDAB radio controls, AM, FM, FM HD, and DAB radio support, analog audio line inputs, A2B output, AMP turn-on outputs, and differential stereo audio line connections. This combination allows the display to function as part of a broader operator or vehicle electronics system rather than being limited to screen-based monitoring.

The unit is also built for demanding outdoor operating conditions. Its 6–36 VDC input with reverse-polarity protection supports a wide range of vehicle and equipment power systems, while IP67 protection on both the front and back helps protect the display in outdoor environments. Operation from -30˚C to +70˚C, along with ±50G shock resistance and 3.9 Grms vibration resistance, makes the PowerView U120 suitable for mobile equipment, vehicle electronics, industrial machinery, and other applications where a conventional office-style display would not provide the required environmental durability.
