Increasing network capacity often requires laying new fibre infrastructure, resulting in expensive and time-consuming civil engineering projects. Service providers need a way to expand bandwidth and support future growth without replacing existing network assets or repeatedly excavating established routes.
Deploy a fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) platform that supports GPON, XGS-PON, and next-generation PON technologies on the same optical distribution network. This approach enables operators to increase capacity by upgrading the electronics at each end of the network rather than replacing the fibre infrastructure itself. The result is a scalable, future-proof network that can grow with subscriber demand while minimizing disruption, deployment costs, and infrastructure investment.
The Fiber Access & FTTx Solution is built for operators and network builders who need to raise capacity per subscriber without re-digging the route or stranding the plant already in the ground. Designed for small exchanges and low-density nodes moving from copper and legacy access to fiber-to-the-premises, this kit delivers XGS-PON over the existing optical distribution network, so capacity is lifted by changing the electronics at each end rather than the fiber between them. The passive plant is laid once, and the network is upgraded in place as demand grows.
Anchored by an Adtran SDX 6310-16 OLT at the exchange, the kit terminates XGS-PON subscribers on a single 16-port platform sized for a node that does not need chassis-scale capacity on day one. The port count matches the subscriber density of a small exchange or a street cabinet serving a limited catchment, so the operator commits to the access electronics the site actually needs rather than a larger platform bought against demand that has not arrived. As the catchment grows, the same optical distribution network carries the higher tiers without a change to the outside plant.
At the subscriber premises, the kit pairs the OLT with a matched Adtran SDX 631q ONT delivering 2.5GbE over XGS-PON. Every subscriber on the node terminates on the same passive splitter and feeder fiber, giving one consistent service definition across the site and one-part number to stock, install and support. Keeping OLT and ONT within the Adtran family guarantees interoperability and a single support path across the access link.
The optical distribution network the passive splitters, feeder and drop fiber remains the operator's existing outside plant, and the BNG and core sit above the OLT on the operator's own routing layer. The kit supplies the active electronics that light both ends of that fiber; everything civil and passive stays in place, untouched. The result is a clean, in-place capacity upgrade at the smallest viable footprint: subscribers move to fiber speeds, and the operator adds capacity by swapping electronics rather than digging.
