Huawei OptiXstar M990, 50G PON Optical Network Unit (ONU)
Huawei OptiXstar M990 is a high-capacity 50G PON Optical Network Unit designed for next-generation optical access networks. It provides 1 × 50G-PON network-side port and multiple high-speed user-side interfaces, making it suitable for demanding broadband, enterprise, and access network deployments.
The OptiXstar M990 provides 2 × 25GE/XGE/GE optical ports, 2 × XGE/GE optical/electrical ports, 2 × GE electrical ports, and 2 × clock ports. This combination offers flexible connectivity for high-speed network equipment while supporting different Ethernet interface requirements through a single 50G PON ONU.
Its 50G-PON interface supports symmetric transmission rates of 49.7664 Gbit/s upstream and downstream, as well as asymmetric transmission of 24.8832 Gbit/s upstream and 49.7664 Gbit/s downstream. The upstream interface uses an SC/UPC connector with Class N1 optics, providing a receiver sensitivity of −24 dBm and overload optical power of −3 dBm.
The Huawei OptiXstar M990 supports 25GE, XGE, and GE user-side connectivity for flexible network deployment. Its 25GE/XGE optical interface supports 1000/10000/25000 Mbit/s, while XGE optical/electrical interfaces support 1000/10000 Mbit/s. The electrical GE ports provide 10/100/1000 Mbit/s autonegotiation and IEEE 802.3 compliance.
Designed for reliable access network operation, the M990 supports Type B single-homing and Type B dual-homing protection. Its AC and dual DC power options, compact 320 × 220 × 43.6 mm chassis, and multiple interface configurations make it suitable for high-speed optical access and network aggregation environments requiring scalable connectivity.
