The Moxa EDS-4008-LV is a Layer 2 managed Ethernet switch with eight 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports. Each port supports auto negotiation, full/half duplex operation, and auto MDI/MDI-X, allowing the switch to connect different types of industrial Ethernet equipment without requiring manual cable configuration. Its compact eight-port configuration is suitable for smaller industrial network segments and control cabinets.
The switch provides management and traffic-handling features for organizing industrial Ethernet communication. It has a 16 K MAC table, support for up to 256 VLANs, 512 IGMP groups, four priority queues, and a 1 MB packet buffer. Support for VLANs can help separate network traffic, while priority queues allow important data to receive appropriate traffic handling within the network.
The EDS-4008-LV also includes interfaces for local management, monitoring, and industrial control integration. An RS-232 console port provides local access, while the relay alarm contact and digital input can be connected to external monitoring or control equipment. LED indicators provide status information for power, faults, redundancy roles, and synchronization. DIP switches support Turbo Ring, Master, Coupler, and Reserve configurations.
Reliable power is supported through two removable terminal blocks and redundant dual inputs. The installed PWR-100–LV power module accepts 12/24/48 VDC, while the switch operates across a 9.6 to 60 VDC range. Overload current protection and reverse polarity protection provide additional protection for the power input, making the switch suitable for DC-powered industrial control systems.
The metal housing is designed for industrial installation, with DIN-rail mounting as standard and optional wall mounting. The EDS-4008-LV operates from -10 to 60°C and supports 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity. Its IP40 protection and compact 55 x 140 x 120 mm enclosure make it suitable for control cabinets, machine networks, and industrial automation systems where managed Layer 2 Ethernet connectivity is required.
