The MDS-G4028 is a Layer 2 full Gigabit modular managed Ethernet switch that combines 4 embedded Gigabit ports with support for up to 24 100/1000Base SFP slots. This gives network designers a flexible way to build copper and fiber connectivity within a single compact switch. Its 6 interface module slots allow optional FE/GbE modules to be added when the network needs to be expanded or configured differently.

For network management and connected equipment, the switch provides USB 2.0, an RS-232 serial interface, and a digital input on the MGMT module. Its switching capacity includes a 16 K MAC table, up to 256 VLANs, 1024 IGMP groups, 8 priority queues, and a 12 Mbit packet buffer. These features help organize traffic and support managed Ethernet networks with multiple connected devices.

The modular design is particularly useful where installation space is restricted or where network requirements may vary between projects.
