When an operator needs to monitor machine information and control functions from a compact display, a standard screen alone may not provide enough direct I/O and communication capability. The MRS Electronics MConn 7 combines a 7" colour display with digital and analog inputs, digital outputs, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet interfaces, allowing it to work as both an operator display and an interface to connected machine electronics.

The MConn 7 provides a 7" colour TFT display with 1024 x 600 resolution and 800 cd/m² brightness. The display gives operators a clear interface for viewing machine or vehicle information, while the wide viewing angle supports easier observation from different positions around the installation.
Unlike a display-only unit, the MConn 7 includes 22 total inputs and outputs. It provides 12 digital inputs, 6 analog inputs, and 4 digital high-side outputs, allowing the display system to directly receive signals from connected equipment and provide output control functions without relying entirely on a separate I/O device.
The six analog inputs support 0...12.5 V signals, while two of the digital inputs also support frequency inputs. This allows the unit to interface with different types of machine signals. The four high-side digital outputs can be used for connected control functions within the supported electrical limits.
For communication with other electronic control units, the MConn 7 provides two CAN interfaces based on ISO 11898-2:2016 capable CAN transceivers. It also provides LIN and Ethernet interfaces, giving the display a range of communication options for connected machine and vehicle systems.
The unit operates from a 9-32 V DC supply and includes reverse polarity and overvoltage protection. Its PC-ABS/ABS housing, compact dimensions, and specified temperature range make it suitable for embedded operator-interface applications where display functionality, direct I/O, and CAN-based communication need to be combined in one device.
