Description

The uCPE & SD-WAN Edge Solution is built for operators running a branch estate who are tired of shipping a new appliance and rolling a truck every time a site needs another network function. Designed to replace the traditional branch stack a separate router, firewall, WAN optimizer and SD-WAN edge, each with its own hardware, refresh cycle and failure mode this Solution consolidates all of them onto a single x86 platform running virtualized network functions. Adding or changing a capability becomes a software deployment rather than a site visit, and one appliance is refreshed instead of four, across every site.

Powered by the Lanner NCA-1525, purpose-built for mainstream branch, the Solution hosts router, firewall, WAN optimizer and SD-WAN functions as software (VNFs) on one box, service-chained together and managed centrally. The NCA-1525 carries newer Atom C5000-series silicon with Intel QuickAssist (QAT) crypto acceleration, on-board support 5G and Wi-Fi 6, and a mix of 10G SFP+ and multi-gigabit copper interfaces so a managed retail or office branch gets its full WAN-edge stack, its wireless WAN and its local wireless from a single appliance. Because the functions are software, new services can be inserted or rolled back on a running site without touching the hardware.

For sites where a fan is a liability dust-prone plant rooms, sealed cabinets, or noise-sensitive retail and office space the Solution pairs in a CASwell CAF-0260, a fanless uCPE with the same VNF capability, dual 10G SFP+ fiber uplinks and QAT acceleration. It serves the same role on a different site profile: quiet, no moving parts, and fiber-fed where a 10G underlay is the primary transport. Both appliances run the identical function set and join the same central SD-WAN fabric, so a mixed estate of managed branches and silent or fiber-fed sites is still operated as one network the choice between them is site environment, not a different architecture.

Crucially, this is one appliance per site, not a high-availability pair: HA would require two of the same models, whereas the NCA-1525 and CAF-0260 are two profiles within one catalogue. Hardware crypto acceleration on both keeps encrypted SD-WAN and VPN throughput off the CPU, and the WAN circuits and branch LAN remain the customers. The result is a single, software-defined way to light any branch: pick the appliance that fits the site, deploy the functions the site needs, and manage the whole estate from one console.
