When a surveillance camera is installed outdoors, changing light, strong backlighting, wide areas, and moving objects can make it difficult to maintain a clear and useful image. The Pelco SRXE4-2V12-EMD-1 is designed for this type of monitoring, combining WDR, remote zoom and focus, high frame rates, and outdoor dome construction in a network camera.

The Pelco SRXE4-2V12-EMD-1 is a 2MP outdoor dome camera that uses a 1/2.8” progressive scan CMOS sensor to produce video at up to 1920 x 1080 resolution. Its main purpose is to provide clear visible-light surveillance while giving the operator control over the viewing area. The dome format makes it suitable for fixed monitoring locations where a discreet camera design and adjustable viewing coverage are useful.

One of its important functions is Wide Dynamic Range. When a scene contains both very bright and dark areas, such as an entrance with strong outdoor light behind a person, WDR helps the camera retain more usable image information across different exposure levels. The camera supports up to 126 dB WDR with dual exposure at 30 fps and up to 144 dB with triple exposure at 20 fps or less. This can help maintain recognizable details in challenging lighting conditions.

The 2.8 - 12 mm lens provides a horizontal viewing angle from 27° to 119°, allowing the camera to cover a wider scene or move toward a narrower view when more focused observation is required. Remote zoom and focus, autofocus, and an IR cut filter allow these settings to be managed without physically adjusting the camera. Day/night control, backlight compensation, white balance, electronic shutter control, and image rotation provide additional options for adapting the image to different surveillance conditions.

For security monitoring, the camera supports pixel motion detection and classified object detection, along with camera tamper detection. Up to 64 privacy zones can be configured, while corridor mode and image rotation support different mounting and monitoring orientations. Multi-stream H.264 and H.265, Motion JPEG, and Pelco Smart Compression help with network video transmission, while ONVIF Profile S, Profile T, Profile M, and Profile G support integration with compatible surveillance systems.

The camera also provides practical local and system-level connectivity through two microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC slots, USB 2.0, audio input and output, relay input and output, and a 12 VDC output. Its 1.62 kg outdoor dome housing and 182 mm x 132 mm dimensions make it suitable for installations where a compact network surveillance camera is required.
