UOTEK Mini RS-232 to RS-485 Converter


For communication between a PC with different standard serial ports and external devices or intelligent instruments, standard serial conversion is required. This converter supports RS‑232C and RS‑485 standards, transforming RS‑232 signals into balanced differential RS‑485 signals. It extends the transmission distance of RS‑232 communication up to 1.2 km.

It uses a unique RS‑232 charge pump technology to power the system, obtaining energy without initializing the RS‑232 serial port. The converter features built-in zero-delay automatic receive and transmit conversion, and a special I/O circuit that automatically controls the data flow direction without any handshake signals (RTU, DTR).

It is compatible with existing communication hardware and software, requiring no configuration of previous RS‑232 working modes. This ensures that programs based on RS‑232 half-duplex mode do not need modification and will operate smoothly with current software and hardware. The transmission rate ranges from 300 bps to 115.2 kbps.

It can be used for communication between hosts, or between a host and SCM, supporting point-to-point or point-to-multipoint long-distance communication networks. Its applications include industrial automation control systems, all-in-one cards, access control systems, parking systems, ATM systems, bus charging systems, canteen ticketing systems, attendance systems, and toll stations, among others.
